(November 25, 2023) – Richardson Memorial Stadium proudly hosted the 58th edition of the Vanier Cup, marking the first time the championship was held in Kingston since its inception in 1965. The 2023 U Sports Football Championship saw the Montreal Carabins emerge victorious over the UBC Thunderbirds with a score of 16–9, securing their second Vanier Cup title. This historic event brought together more than 600 football players and coaches from across the country, highlighting the pinnacle of Canadian university football talent.
The excitement continues as Queen's University is set to host the Vanier Cup once again in 2024, solidifying its reputation as a premier venue for national sporting events. The Lang Pavilion, the final piece of the Richardson Stadium Revitalization project, played a significant role in enhancing the fan and athlete experience with its state-of-the-art facilities. The Queen's community, alongside over 300 alumni donors, contributed to making this revitalization possible, ensuring that Richardson Memorial Stadium remains at the forefront of Canadian university sports venues.

The Road to the 2024 Vanier Cup will begin in late August, with teams vying for a spot in the championship game through a series of intense conference matchups.
